Demystifying Strategy: Essential Principles of Strategic Thinking Derived from modern Chess Presenter: Anderson Gordon Anderson is a well-respected presenter and trainer. He has presented at the 2016 & 2015 PMI Global Congress, at the 2016 PMI Region-14 Leadership Conference and at chapter events in Trinidad, Barbados and Jacksonville, Fl. Anderson has developed and delivered specially customized PM training to project managers from various sectors including Energy, Telecom, Wastewater and Government. A National Chess Master, he is also a member of Faculty at the Project Management Department of the Cipriani College of Labour & Cooperative Studies in Trinidad & Tobago. *** While few would deny the importance of strategy in virtually every sphere of life, a surprisingly large number of people have very little idea of what strategy really is or what it means to consciously think strategically. Anderson’s presentation, delivered at the recently concluded PMI Global Congress in San Diego, is based on his paper which integrates ideas from the sport of chess with key concepts from the seminal work of Porter (1996) and Kaplan and Norton (2000). Even if you know nothing about chess, join our interactive and eye-opening session; learn a novel definition of strategy and a basic process for strategic planning. You will also learn key principles of strategic thinking so that you can immediately apply the content and thus improve as a strategic thinker and leader.
