What benefits will I get from volunteering?

Volunteering will allow you access to a network of like-minded volunteers across a broad spectrum of industries and organizations, accompanied by all the benefits that networking affords. In addition to those of you seeking added opportunities to apply your project management knowledge volunteering will give you the opportunity to engage in valuable hands-on project management experience.

Can I gain PDUs from volunteering?

Yes, you can. You can claim up to 17 Professional Development Units (PDUs) depending on the number of volunteer hours you spend working with PMI SSC.

Does the PMI SCC provide monetary assistance to complete projects?

Yes, in some instances, depending on the budgeted amount, a project proposal including a sound business case and project justification may be submitted to the PMI SSC Board for their consideration and approval.

Can I volunteer for more than one project?

Of course, you can! PMI SSC welcomes all the volunteering support you are willing to provide. Of course, we urge you to be mindful of not spreading yourself too thin so that you are able to optimally contribute to each project for which you volunteer.

Are non-PMI members able to sign up for volunteer roles?

Yes, they are. PMI SCC doesn't discriminate as it pertains to volunteering support.

What happens if I am unable to fulfill my duties as a volunteer?

We encourage that you consider other obligations before committing to any volunteer role. However, we understand that circumstances might change and so there are no punitive measures if you are unable to perform your duties. Simply inform the Board member/Project Lead of your inability to carry out the duties for which you would have previously volunteered.

Who should I contact for more information?

Feel free to email the Volunteer Networking Team at volunteer@pmiscc.org or the Volunteer Experience Coordinator at experience_coordinator@pmiscc.org.

Should your circumstances change, we will be happy to welcome you back to the volunteering team!!!
