Presenter: Stephen Rambharose Registered Psychiatric Nurse Stress in the workplace can be good and bad. Eustress - the good type of stress motivates you and propels you to excellence. Distress, on the other hand, is bad stress. It may stem from a situation that may be real, or even perceived, that has you so worried, that your blood pressure raises, the heart rate increases, concentration lapses, focus decreases and sometimes causes you to be unable to function. In this presentation you will learn about the three stages of stress and how distress can manifest into anxiety attacks or panic attacks, which can be fatal. As our society copes with a recession you will learn about the triggers that can cause persons to become distressed. Here you will be able to identify stress in your life and in your project team, and learn how you the Project Manager can play a big role in helping your team members cope with distress. Stephen will be using actual examples of real situations and has a wealth of knowledge to share on strategies and techniques to cope with stress. Profile: Stephen is a registered mental nurse who is attached to the St Ann's Hospital. He is experienced with identifying the triggers to stress that can change a person's life dramatically. He is also a registered EMT, and a former industrial instrumentation mechanic technician working in the steel industry for about 10 years. Stephen is a husband and a father of one son, and is very involved in volunteer work with the elderly and young persons in the community. He loves hiking and often leads tours to watch sea turtles and visit the various waterfalls in Trinidad.
