12th Biennial - Conference Effective Project Management in a Poly Crisis

The world is facing many crises all of which are interconnected - cost-of-living; climate change; COVID pandemic; wars; social unrest; food and energy; migration; natural disasters; cybercrime.  This cluster of interconnected crises is collectively called a Polycrisis.  The World Economic Forum, in its Global Risks Report 2023, explains this concept as present and future risks interacting with a compounding effect, such that the overall impact exceeds the sum of each part.

A Polycrisis brings to the fore the need for robust risk management, awareness of multi-domain conflicts, knowledge of Geo-economic warfare, Remote work and remuneration and compensation issues, Information warfare and AI, Disaster Recovery and BCP, foreign exchange management, and social media coupled with new technology.

What does this mean for Project Managers; the CEOs of change; the superheroes of the corporate world?  For one, the need for cross-disciplinary thinking (multi-domains), knowledge acquisition and retention systems, having the ability to unlock hidden opportunities, unmasking constraints while achieving ethical, just and sustainable governance, i.e. designing governance and risk frameworks to manage risk and future uncertainty.

The Project Manager must think beyond the project to address crucial issues before they arise, ensure transparency and integrating environmental, social and governance for sustainable change.

The PMI Southern Caribbean Chapter’s 12th International Biennial Project Management Conference will explore these critical areas and their impact on project managers and project management as a discipline.  Join us on November 15th and 16th 2023 for an insightful and educational journey into project management in a Polycrisis.
