Benefits are the reasons for executing projects, yet today, the success of most projects is measured by scope, time, and cost. No surprise that the claim that projects (especially IT projects) often do not deliver the intended benefits. Benefits are the measurable intended change considered positive by stakeholders following project completion. Whereas deliverables or outputs are artifacts produced at the end of a project, such as a bridge or software application, benefits are commonly realized when individuals use the deliverables. At this session on benefits realization management (BRM), we’ll explore the following: a) Examine the value and challenges of using BRM on projects, b) Unpack the components of a BRM Framework, and c) Provide practical tips using BRM templates.
